Berylline Hummingbird (Amazilia beryllina), Santa Rita Lodge, Madera Canyon, Santa Cruz County

This Berylline Hummingbird was found by Barry Zimmer and photographed by Ken Murphy on 21 May 2016

Nearly annual and increasing summer visitor to the canyons of the southeast part of the state. Has nested.

Note rufous or cinnamon wing panels, purple-bronze upper tail (not visible in these photos), and bright green head, throat, & back. Scaled green throat and breast indicate a female.
