Tufted Flycatcher (Mitrephanes phaeocercus), Carr Canyon, Cochise County

This Tufted Flycatcher was found by Elizabeth White on 16 March 2017, confirmed by Owen Bobier on 20 March 2017 and photographed by Chris Benesh on 24 March 2017

There are three accepted records of Tufted Flycatcher in Arizona scattered across the state. Since 2015 there are 3 pending records one of which is of a pair in Ramsey Canyon which returned and successfully breed in 2016.

Unmistakable small flycatcher with cinnamon underparts and a conspicuous crest. Juveniles with uniformly fresh plumage with buffy tipping to crest and back feathers.
