Brown-crested Flycatcher (partially white) (Myiarchus tyrannulus), Tucson, Pima County

This Brown-crested Flycatcher (partially white) was photographed by J. Duerr on 13 June 2017

Conditions causing abnormal white feathers, such as leucism and progressive graying, are relatively rare in flycatchers. This individual shows a mixture of white and normal feathers in the flight feathers, median coverts, and scapulars; as well as an unusual pale supercilium pattern.

This bird shows the long, heavy bill characteristic of Brown-crested Flycatcher. It was also described as giving a typical "whip" call note.
