Red-necked Grebe (Podiceps grisegena), Davis Dam, Mohave CountyThese Red-necked Grebe
were found by Ben Zyla on 22 December 2017 and a 3rd was
found by Chris McCreedy on 24 December 2017. They were photographed by Lauren Harter on 29 December 2017 Casual (though increasing) migrant and winter visitor, primairly to the LCRV and lakes around Phoenix. A medium sized grebe, smaller than a Western and larger than a Horned, with large mostly yellow bill, and a blocky triangular-shaped head. The cheeks are white and the black cap extends just below the eyes.
