Slate-throated Redstart (Myioborus miniatus), Pinery Canyon, Chirichuas , Cochise County

This Slate-throated Redstart was found by Kyle Lima, Christopher Gilbert, James Heuschkel, and Zachardy Loman on 13 April 2018 and photographed by Kyle on the same date.

First 2018 sighting of this species at the site where at least one bird was present in 2016 and 2017. 

Casual visitor to southeastern Arizona with an increase in reports in the past few years. Likely a returning bird, for details on previous sightings, including nesting, see here and here.

No white in wings; dark gray-black throat, dull red on underparts; tail ragged and worn on this individual but still shows some white in the outer rectrices.
