Kentucky Warbler (Geothlypis formosa), Beal Conservation Area, Havasu NWR, Mohave County

This Kentucky Warbler was found and photographed by Chris Dodge on 06 June 2018

It was captured during the operation of a MAPS banding station.

A rare migrant in Arizona, more often seen in the spring, this appears to be the first for Mohave County.

This bird was a diagnostic ASY Male in hand. Distinctive with entirely bright yellow underparts, black below around the eye running down along the edge of the malar (with black on the face and crown more extensive and solidly black on adult males) and a conspicuous yellow supercillium which wraps around the eye.
