Ovenbird (Seiurus aurocapilla), Meteor Crater, Coconino County

This Ovenbird was found and photographed by Jason Wilder on 01 September 2018

Rare but nearly annual visitor to Arizona primarily as a migrant. Records in Northern Arizona are more frequent in spring than fall migration.

A unique thrush-like warbler with olive-green upperparts and a short tail. Underparts are white with bold black streaks. Orange-striped crown and large-eyed appearance is distinctive.
