Berylline Hummingbird (Amazilia beryllina), Crystal Cave Area, Chiricahuas, Cochise County

This Berylline Hummingbird was found and photographed by James Rigby on 08 August 2019 and also photographed by Lori Conrad on 11 August 2019, by Steve Wolfe on 13 August 2019, by Narca Moore-Craig on 16 August 2019, and by Thomas Ford-Hutchinson on 25 August 2019.

Nearly annual summer visitor to the canyons of the southeast part of the state. Has nested.

Note rufous or cinnamon wing panels, purple-bronze upper tail, and bright green head, throat, & back. Hybrids between this species and Rivoli's Hummingbird have been reported but typically show less extensive rufous in the wings
