Cassin's Kingbird, partially white (Tyrannus vociferans), Montezuma Pass, Cochise CountyThis partially white Cassin's Kingbird was found and photographed by Diana Doyle on 04 May 2019 Conditions causing abnormal white feathers,
such as leucism and progressive graying, are relatively
rare in flycatchers and apparently have not previously
been reported in this species, though it has been in
other species of Tyrannus. This individual
shows a mixture of white and normal feathers in the
wings and on the head. Identification from Western Kingbird is tricky as
this individual shows plumage abnormalities but the lack
of white in the outer tail feathers and darker gray help
to identify it. 04 May 2019, photo by Diana Doyle All photos are copyrighted© by photographer |
