Heermann's Gull (Larus heermanni), Amado WTP, Pima County

This Heermann's Gull was found by Nat Whitman on 27 October 2019 and photographed by Nick Pulcinella on the same date.

Heermann's Gull is a casual visitor to Arizona from the Gulf of California and occurs nearly year round, but most records from late fall. Although there are more than 50 records of Heermann's Gull in Arizona, it is the most notorious "one day wonder" and only a few have ever stayed in one location for more than a day.

Uniform gray-brown plumage with a red based bill makes this species distinctive.
