American Golden-Plover (Pluvialis dominica), Willcox, Cochise County

This American Golden-Plover was found by Gary Rosenberg and Dave Stejskal on 28 April 2020 and photographed by Gary Rosenberg on 28 April 2020

Casual spring migrant removed from the ABC review list in 2020 with ~50 records for the state.

The similar Black-bellied Plover is eliminated by this bird's thin bill, dark cap, long wings, and more distinct pale supercilium. Separating this bird from the similar Pacific Golden-Plover (see here for more information), hinges mainly on the duller, grayer plumage; as well as the long primary projection.
