Broad-winged Hawk (Buteo platypterus), Pintail Sough, Mohave County

This Broad-winged Hawk was photographed by Michelle Brock on 29 April 2017.

Rare in spring in Arizona, but increasingly reported in recent years in Arizona and throughout the western US.

Small Buteo with rufous barring below, broad black and white bands on the tail, fairly pointed wings and a light underwing with dark trailing border.
