Canada Warbler (Cardellina canadensis), Box Bar Rec. Area, Maricopa County

This Canada Warbler was photographed by Caleb Strand on 16 September 2020.

This individual was found by Tommy DeBardeleben and Caleb Strand along the Verde River north of the Box Bar Recreation area by about .4 of a mile.

There have been 13 previously accepted records for the state, not counting the other Canada Warbler that was discovered this fall at Gilbert Water Ranch. The last accepted record for the state was at Lee's Ferry this past 23 May. The last fall record was in Phoenix on 23 September 2005. Most of the Arizona records are from fall.

Note that this individual is likely a HY female, as there is much greenish tinge on the forehead and face, and the necklace of streaks on the breast are very "dusky" not blackish.
