Lesser Black-backed Gull (Larus fuscus), San Carlos Reservoir, Pinal County

This Lesser Black-backed Gull was photographed by Chris McCreedy on 26 October 2021.

This was originally reported as a possible Western Gull but was identified as a Lesser Black-backed from its size and long primary extensions. Also note size, long wings and wing tips, dark brown primaries showing only slightly lighter inner primary panels even in direct sunlight, extensive white upper tail with bold sparse dark barring on upper tail and under tail, all black bill consistent in size with LBBG, size of the bird in relation to other birds, whitish head and underparts with bold streaking.
