Philadelphia Vireo (Vireo philadelphicus), Leslie Canyon NWR, Cochise County

This Philadelphia Vireo was photographed by Steven Tracey on 06 October 2022.

Philadelphia Vireo is a casual migrant in Arizona, with most records from late September and October; there are now about 25 records for the state.

Confusing species a bit similar to Warbling Vireo (which is a common fall migrant), but not the bright yellow on the throat and breast, brightest on the throat, and a dark lored appearance. Warbling Vireo, in fall, can have quite a bit of yellow on the underparts, but the distribution of the yellow is different, being more concentrated on the sides and belly, as opposed to the throat.
