Red Knot (Calidris canutus), John Lake Playa, Coconino County

The Red Knot is a casual fall transient in Arizona. Its worldwide population is seriously declining. If accepted this would be a first county record for Coconino.

Stocky, medium sized shorebird with reddish underparts and stout, straight bill.
