Red Phalarope (Phalaropus fulicarius), Glendale Recharge Ponds, Maricopa County

Red Phalarope is a casual visitor to Arizona, with records from nearly every month of the year.

Note the plain gray back without noticeable streaking, and the relatively stouter bill (than Red-necked Phalarope) with a slight yellow base to the lower mandible.:
