Yellow-crowned Night-Heron (Nyctanassa violacea), Seneca Lake, Gila County

This Yellow-crowned Night-Heron was photographed by Gary Rosenberg on 12 September 2022

Juvenile bird found by Janine McCabe on 1 September 2022.

This would represent a 6th or 7th Arizona record, and first Gila County record.

Immature/Juvenile Night-Heron entirely streaked above and below; with stout mostly dark bill, thinner, more elongated neck compared to a juvenile Black-crowned, and more spotted and less streaked above than Black-crowned; overall grayer than juvenile Black-crowned.
