Elegant Trogon (Trogon elegans), Sweetwater Wetlands, Pima County

Extremely rare for Tucson was a female Elegent Trogon found at Roger Road Wastewater Treatment Plant on 2 June 2008 by Jean Barchman and others. It was originally found between the two ponds at the SW corner of the facility, but was later observed across the street at Sweetwater Wetlands, in the vicinity of Hidden Pond.  Even more incredible, a second Elegant Trogon, this one an adult male, was found just south of Pond 5 at Sweetwater Wetlands on 3 June 2008 (various observers). The female was photographed by Brendon Grice on 07 June 2008
