Greater Scaup (Aythya marila), Papago Tanks, Santa Cruz County

This Greater Scaup was discovered and photographed by Andrew Core on 15 December 2008 at Papago Tanks.  Greater Scaup is casual in winter in SE Arizona.  The long white wing stripe is diagnostic for Greater Scaup.  This location is only about 30 miles from Green Valley where three Greater Scaup were found the previous week.  It is therefore possible that this is one of the same birds.
