Kentucky Warbler (Oporornis formosus), Florida Work Center, Pima CountyThis
adult male Kentucky Warbler was discovered by Michael Moore, James Moore,
Jonathan Rowley and Libby Rowley on 27 December 2008 along the stream that runs
next to the Florida Work Center. It was photographed by Michael Moore at
the same time. Usually a casual transient in Arizona which is most often detected in spring migration, this may represent the first winter report for the state. There are four previous records from late October and early November. Kentucky Warbler normally winters from southern Mexico south to northern South America. It is casual in winter in Florida, Louisiana, Texas and California. Adult males are unmistakable with bright yellow underparts, black face and
crown and a conspicuous yellow supercillium which wraps around the eye.
