Crescent-chested Warbler (Parula superciliosa), Turkey Creek, Cochise County

Crescent-chested Warbler is accidental-to-casual in the ABA area. Its "normal" range reaches from northern Nicaragua to southeastern Sonora. The species was first found and photographed north of Mexico in Garden Canyon, Fort Huachuca, AZ in 1983. The next year, a male was photographed in Ramsey Canyon. Eight years passed before the next record, a Crescent-chested Warbler that spent two winters (92-93 & 93-94) in Patagonia. The next two accepted records come from Madera Canyon, in 2001 and 2003. In 2005, one was documented in Miller Canyon.

The bird in these photos was discovered feeding a juvenile along East Turkey Creek in the Chiricahua Mountains on July 12, 2007 by John and Judy Geeson from the UK. Photos on July 15, 2007 by Luke Seitz.
